2020 Wild Duck Creek Ducks & Drakes Cabernet Shiraz, Heathcote

Morphing from the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz to straight Cabernet Sauvignon, Ducks & Drakes is a wine with typical Heathcote fruit intensity, accompanied by the structural hallmarks of Cabernet Sauvignon.  This wine is made from blending Cabernet Sauvignon from our northern vineyards at Colbinabbin, with our southern vineyards at Mia Mia, creating a wine of depth and complexity. Matured in 40% new French and American oak for 22 months.

Entirely from our Northern vineyards at Colbinnabbin. We think of it as the sister to Springflat Shiraz. Vivid red in colour, with lifted aromas of black fruits and tobacco. The palate is rich and full of blackberry liqueur, bay leaf and olive tapenade flavours. This wine has a structure that builds up over time, with layers of lovely Cabernet tannins wrapping around the succulent fruit flavours. Matured in a blend of French and American oak hogsheads (30% new) for 22 months. It’s big and beautiful. Cellar for up to 15 years if you have the patience. 15.0% alc.
