Destemmed to open fermenters, 15% whole berries, 10 days on skins, matured for 12 months in French puncheons (20% new). A highly fragrant and expressive bouquet leads the palate with its spice, black pepper, licorice and blackberry flavours. The tannin and oak inputs are all they should be, as are the texture, line and length.

Shiraz was the first red grape variety planted in Langhorne Creek at Bleasdale in 1858 and continues to thrive today. Individual vineyard blocks are picked and crushed separately before maturation and blending.Matured 12 months in new (22%) and seasoned French oak puncheons.
This wine shows flavours of ripe plums and other dark berries, layered with licorice, pepper and fresh spices. Drinking well now, but with the potential to be a long term cellaring prospect if desired. Lightly fined and racked before bottling without filtration, it is normal for some sediment to form. Decanting one hour before drinking is recommended.
