An homage to the winemaker's time in the Hunter Valley. This has a beautiful beetroot stain in the glass. Violets, prune plums and blackforest cherry. Tonka bean, vanilla and cassia bark. A cool purple shiso coolness to add to the crunch of raspberry, cherry bright pinot noir fruit, with the dense mid-palate generosity of shiraz. Nicely complete wine.

From the high altitude vineyards of Orange in New South Wales, Byrne Farm Shiraz Pinot Noir offers a lively and distinctly cool climate take on this intriguing blend. Orange’s volcanic soils, elevated sites and crisp night temperatures allow both varieties to retain aromatic freshness while developing layered flavour. Shiraz brings dark fruit and spice while Pinot Noir contributes fragrance and finesse, creating a red that feels vibrant, supple and effortlessly drinkable.
A bright ruby crimson with purple flashes fills the glass. Aromas rise with red cherry, plum and wild raspberry layered with cracked pepper, dried herbs and a gentle floral lift. There is an immediate sense of brightness and energy to the bouquet, reflecting the region’s cool climate character.
The palate is medium bodied and smooth, delivering juicy red and dark berry fruit framed by soft tannins and lively acidity. Notes of spice, cranberry and subtle earthy nuance unfold through the mid palate, leading to a fresh, flowing finish that keeps the wine wonderfully approachable. Best enjoyed over the next four to six years while its vibrant fruit and balance remain at their peak.
Grilled lamb skewers coming straight off the barbecue, wood fired pizza shared outdoors, or a hearty pasta with tomato and herbs on a cool evening. A record like The Teskey Brothers Half Mile Harvest or something relaxed from Courtney Barnett drifting through the speakers, the wine slipping easily into a night that feels warm, casual and full of good conversation.
