Cascina Luisin Barbaresco Rabajà is a deep and structured expression of Nebbiolo from one of the most iconic crus in all of Barbaresco. Rabajà sits just below the village itself and is famed for its south and southwest exposure, producing wines that combine richness and power with remarkable balance. In the hands of Cascina Luisin, a small family-run estate rooted in tradition since 1913, this site reveals its full potential with elegance and restraint.
The winemaking here is classical. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing for over two years in large Slavonian oak casks. There is no new oak and no flashiness — just purity of fruit and a deep connection to site. The style is unforced and transparent, allowing the Rabajà character to shine through.
On the nose it offers aromas of dried cherry, blood orange, rose petals, sweet tobacco and iron. The palate is full of tension and grip, with redcurrant and strawberry fruit framed by firm tannins and a long savoury finish. There is a distinctive earth and spice note that anchors the wine, and a sense of layered complexity that only the best crus can provide.
Food pairing: perfect with wild boar ragù, braised veal shanks, truffle tajarin or porcini risotto. Also excellent with aged cheeses like Parmigiano or pecorino.
Cellar potential: best from 2027 onwards with 20 to 30 years of ageing potential. Will gain depth and secondary complexity over time without losing its focus.
