2021 Chalk Hill Alpha Crucis Blewitt Springs Grenache, McLaren Vale

The fruit for this limited edition Grenache release is from 80-year-old bush vines in Blewitt Springs. Th e 2021 Limited Release Blewitt Springs Grenache is a silky, fine, spicy Grenache, with layers of pure raspberry fruit, fine tannins and a bloody countenance. The fruit is kept in line by the web of tannin in the mouth, which spools out through the long and very fine finish laced with alpine herbs and shades of amaro. The cool year lends an elegance and clarity to the finish. Nicely done. Drink 2022 - 2032

Sourced from almost 90 year old bush vines in Blewitt Springs.  Handpicked from the sandy vineyard, fermented for 10 days with 20% as whole bunch. 

On the nose: A perfumed wine this has floral notes, red fruits and spices all leaping out of the glass.  Vibrant fruit flavours of dark cherry and pomegranate combine with floral notes, cooking spices and minerals. It is a medium bodied wine but full of flavour and has a fine lingering finish. Drink it with pork cutlet with a honey and balsamic glaze, now to 2030
