Only 40% of a usual crop was produced this year. This epitomises why the wines from this appellation are becoming so interesting. It is a fine terroir, of course, and the extra dimension of lusciousness found in the best Pouilly-Fuissé is irresistible. The bouquet is full of succulent summer fruit like nectarine and peach. The palate is long, gently exotic and grounded with just the right level of minerality. Drink 2026-2038
A monopole with a large percentage of the vines that were planted in 1917. Château des Quarts is a 2.23 ha (though parts of it are not yet planted) joint venture between Olivier Merlin and Dominique Lafon.
