The second wine of Château Lynch-Bages, the 2021 Echo De Lynch-Bages is well worth seeking out and matches many a Grand Vin out there. Giving up lots of red and black fruits, chocolate, and tobacco notes, it's medium-bodied, has good concentration, a ripe, mouth-filling texture, and a great finish. For a second wine, the tannins are incredibly polished and fine.

The 2021 Echo Lynch Bages is a dark brooding wine in this vintage. There is a good deal of depth but also some rough edges that need polishing. Echo is neither finessed nor charming today but that's what elevage is for

Offering up aromas of minty cassis and blackberries mingled with loamy soil, the 2021 Echo de Lynch-Bages is a medium to full-bodied, lively and charming wine that's nicely balanced, but not especially deep or penetrating.

Seductively scented, deep and dark, ripe black fruits with very soft floral scents. Ripe, juicy and so approachable, such a great texture, mouthfilling in a delicate way. It's a cool style, with blue fruits - blueberries, plums. cherries - but the tannins are so well integrated and underpinned by quite high acidity that this just stays off being austere for the moment (but does give a healthy dose of firmness on the mid-palate). I love the overall feel, really well worked with a light overall frame. A slow burner with classic charm. 3.70pH.

A little more angularity to the tannins than the Ormes de Pez, a little more serious overall, very much in the Pauillac spirit. This gets better as it opens, it has good balance and plenty of freshness, 11% new oak, rest one year old. 3.7ph.

Lots of Lynch character to this wine, with a full body and blackcurrant, dark-chocolate, tar and lean-pencil character. Full and flavorful. Solid center-palate. Second wine. Nicely put together. 56% merlot and 44% cabernet sauvignon.

Echo de Lynch Bages is the second wine of Château Lynch Bages, one of Pauillac’s most celebrated Fifth Growth estates, and it delivers a genuine taste of classic Bordeaux pedigree with a more approachable personality. Drawn from the same Pauillac terroir as the grand vin, Echo reflects the gravel rich soils of the Bages plateau, where deep, well drained gravels over clay give Cabernet Sauvignon its trademark structure, drive and longevity.
Château Lynch Bages has a long and storied history, but its modern reputation was firmly shaped under the stewardship of Jean Michel Cazes, who transformed the estate into one of the most consistent and admired names in Bordeaux. Today the Cazes family continues that legacy, combining tradition with thoughtful innovation. Echo de Lynch Bages benefits from the same meticulous vineyard management and winemaking philosophy as the flagship wine, with a focus on precision, balance and clarity of fruit.
The blend is typically Cabernet Sauvignon led, supported by Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Franc or Petit Verdot depending on the vintage. In the glass, Echo de Lynch Bages shows classic Pauillac character. Blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum are layered with cedar, tobacco leaf and graphite, all framed by fine grained tannins. The palate is polished and supple, with a freshness and generosity that makes it more accessible in youth than Lynch Bages itself, while still offering unmistakable Left Bank structure.
This is a wine that shines at the table. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef, duck or mushroom based dishes, and it is equally at home with hard cheeses. While designed to be enjoyed earlier, Echo de Lynch Bages has the depth and balance to cellar comfortably for a decade or more, developing savoury complexity and softer tertiary notes over time.
Echo de Lynch Bages is more than just a second wine. It is a true expression of Pauillac terroir and Lynch Bages savoir faire, offering classic Bordeaux character, refinement and reliability in a style that is generous, confident and deeply satisfying.
