Full-bodied, perfumed Seppeltsfield red with layers of ferrous dark fruit
Shiraz sourced from 1993 plantings at the Greenock Creek estate in Seppeltsfield. Purpley hued and displaying all the requisite estate concentration. This wine, all macerated plum, blueberry and summer fruits, has a ferrous edge to its form along with layers of baking spice, blueberry pie, licorice and fruitcake. There is a perfume in the mouth too, a velvety slide of jasmine and violets, before it slides away with fine tannins and concentrated blue and black fruits.

Nothing shy here is this decadently flavoured 2021 Shiraz from vineyards in Seppeltsfield with lashing of dark chocolate and fresh tar with a rich vein of mocha oak. Beautifully mouth filling but also with a strong shape that holds firm. Supple particulate tannins provide good definition to the lengthy and approachable finish. Superb now but will hold. Drink to 2033.

Greenock Creek was established in 1984 by Michael and Annabelle Waugh with a vision of producing terroir led single vineyard expressions of Shiraz. Accumulating a series of old, dry-land, low-yielding Barossa vineyards, they succeeded on a scale few could have imagined.
The Waughs’ retired in 2018, with new owners hiring Alex Peel as the senior winemaker. He has bought a fresh precision to a house style that has always been defined by power, integrity and a fierce respect for site. This has been achieved by small but important adjustments in managing vineyard health and by promoting quality control at every step in the winery.
The Seven Acre Shiraz is one of Greenock Creek’s reserve wines with fruit sourced from a single parcel within their Seppeltsfield vineyard.
