Plush and voluptuous Moppa red with generous red fruit, chocolate and spice
An entry level wine from this revered western Barossa estate from the strong 2021 vintage. Shows the estate's trademark fruit plushness and voluptuous palate-shape with a little less horsepower than the big guns in their stable. Pure berry and plum fruits, spice, dark chocolate, powdery tannins and a whole lot of drinking enjoyment here. Drink to 2034.

The 2021 Greenock Creek Shiraz is generously proportioned yet retains its composure as it delivers bold and ripe aromas of plum compote topped by tempered chocolate with a touch of red fruits and wood smoke. Richly textured with oodles of upfront flavour before quickly settling into its more luscious and sleek pose, measured tannins holding the package together for a slinky finish. Drink to 2033.

A medley of black and red fruits mixes with choc mint and vanilla notes. On the palate, a burst of dark red fruits enlivens the dark spices while a spine of savoury tannins supports. This is a pleasing up-front, full-bodied shiraz that offers balance and appeal in its youth. Well priced too, for this style. Drink to 2030.

Greenock Creek was established in 1984 by Michael and Annabelle Waugh with a vision of producing terroir led single vineyard expressions of Shiraz. Accumulating a series of old, dry-land, low-yielding Barossa vineyards, they succeeded on a scale few could have imagined.
The Waughs’ retired in 2018, with new owners hiring Alex Peel as the senior winemaker. He has bought a fresh precision to a house style that has always been defined by power, integrity and a fierce respect for site. This has been achieved by small but important adjustments in managing vineyard health and by promoting quality control at every step in the winery.
The fruit for the estate Shiraz is sourced from their Moppa vineyard in the northeastern reaches of Barossa’s Western Ridge.
