The nose is slightly restrained and intriguing, with graphite, dried herbs, black cherries, red cherries, anise and stones. The palate is incredibly silky and complete, with rose petals in the finish. A very pretty cabernet that is wonderful now and will reveal more with time. Drink or hold.
94 points James Suckling
A Californian classic with a distinctly European sense of elegance, Jordan has been producing beautifully balanced Cabernet Sauvignon since its founding by Tom and Sally Jordan in 1972. Based in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, the estate is now led by second generation proprietor John Jordan, with winemaker Maggie Kruse continuing its tradition of refined, food friendly reds. Alexander Valley's warm days, cool nights and gravelly soils give Cabernet Sauvignon lovely ripeness without sacrificing freshness.
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections. Blackcurrant, ripe blackberry and dark cherry mingle with cedar, tobacco, cocoa and a hint of dried herbs. The excellent 2021 vintage is beautifully composed, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury finish. Generous yet restrained, with the structure to develop gracefully.
Wonderful with rosemary roasted lamb, chargrilled beef with porcini, or smoked eggplant with black garlic and lentils.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2038. Already appealing, with the balance and structure for further development.
