A 68/20/7/5% blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and petit verdot. Given that the grapes for this wine have the Moss Wood brand and were estate grown, hand-picked and hand-sorted, the price of the wine is extraordinary. And it doesn't stop there. Once fermented in tank it's pressed to used French barriques for mlf, and racked to tank for blending, then returned to that oak for 18 months maturation. Its colour is bright, fresh crimson, the bouquet fragrant, and the palate is already complete and balanced. It's purpose-built for consumption over the next three or four years, but if for any reason it's left unopened for 10 years it

A bright ruby red colour. Raspberry and crushed violet aromas lift from the glass. Fresh and juicy on the palate, there's a joyous vibrancy to the wine that keeps you entertained on repeat visits. The tannins are almost playful in their fine-grained persistence, and a hint of freshening acidity as it lingers long adds to that sense of life. 13 JAN 2023 Drink 2023–2032

Red fruits, mulberry and cherry, hazelnut chocolate, mint nogat, and some biscuit spice. It’s supple and fleshy, quite the chocolate nuts flavour, juicy spiced poached strawberry, light grainy tannin, and a succulent and nutty finish of good length. There’s almost a sweet red apple flavour too. It’s at ease with itself now, and drinks very well. It has a high yum factor, shall we say?

Planted in 1969 Moss Wood is an important, founding estate of the Margaret River wine region, located in the northern sub–region of Wilyabrup, Western Australia. Clare & Keith Mugford, as winemakers, viticulturalists & proprietors, have been making wine & tending the vineyard at Moss Wood since 1984 & 1979, respectively. Their exacting viticulture ensures the production of grapes of excellent quality & they have created a stable of fine wines distinguished by their consistency over each vintage & their ability to age superbly.

Who is 'Amy' - In 1997, Clare and Keith negotiated a 3 year contract to buy the fruit from the “Glenmore Vineyard” owned by Amy Beers, the grandmother of Ian Bell who still owns and managed the vineyard.

68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 7% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot

Deep, brick red; bright condition. The nose is a lifted expression of all of the varieties in the blend. The Merlot contributes rich blackcurrant notes while Malbec brings in watermelon aromas. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominates with heaped dollops of blueberry and red currants. As the wine begins to relax in the glass, the textural charry and chocolatey notes begin to materialize.
Carrying over from the nose the blueberries and red currants make their presence felt. The firm tannin structure is accented by the generosity of a full body mid-palate. The acidity has a gentle linearity which pairs nicely with texture
derived from the in French Oak. The youthful vibrancy and liveliness of the fruit weight make this wine very appealing and should be enjoyed young
