2021 Raymond Usseglio Cotes du Rhone Les Claux, Rhone Valley

Dark red fruit, sweet spice and orange rind on the nose. The palate shows lovely ripe fruit with great balance and bright acidity. From "les Claux " a  rocky limestone vineyard on the left side of the Rhone . Grenache ,Syrah,Mouvedre . Stéphane Usseglio succeeds here in creating a basic cuvée that is very generous.
He uses the classic GSM blend (grenache, syrah, mourvèdre), which are picked by hand. At the beginning we have ripe blue fruits such as cassis and blackberries with a spicy undertone. Then we have a light pepper touch that is characteristic of the syrah. The Mourvèdre is a good carrier of tannins and acids and ensures a perfect balance. The domain is labeled Demeter, a control body that supports biodynamic viticulture.
