Deep and bright red-purple colour, the aroma likewise fresh and aromatic, lifted and bright, with mulberry, crushed-leaf, raspberry and blackcurrant aromas, very varietal. The palate is medium-full bodied and quite intense on entry, although it lacks a little textural fleshiness and persistence. It may just need more time. It's an excellent wine and good value, but it's surprising that it won best international cabernet at the 2023 International Wine Challenge. Its amazingly fragrant nose would seduce judges, even if there's a trace of greenness in amongst it. 20 JUL 2023 Drink 2025–2036

There is an immediate rich hit of Coonawarra from the first take on the nose; this is heady stuff. Perfume with black fruits and a little cool, but understated mint. Tight and fine-grained oak with a fine linear tannin profile provides support through to its remarkably long finish. The fruit has a certain suppleness, yet this Cabernet also shows a firm core that stands up to be counted. Outstanding.
