Hand picked from selected 777 clone Pinot Noir vines from our 300 acre estate. This wine was hand sorted and small-batch fermented with a blend of 30% whole bunch and 70% destemmed whole berries. To retain regional and clonal expression, the wine was matured in older French oak barriques for 10 months. Displaying aromas of fresh rhubarb and tobacco leaf, the small batch 777 Pinot is the ‘soloist’ opposed to the ‘orchestra’. This energetic Pinot Noir has integrated layers of wild raspberry, cherries and plum. Soft tannins and a round, rich mid-palate make this a complex single vineyard, single clone wine. This versatile wine makes an outstanding accompaniment to smoked duck, salmon gravlax or mushroom Risotto. Drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve.
