The palate likewise. This is a vehicle for some sensational fruit – black, red, blue – spice and florals that fly high, but remain nicely grounded by fine-grained tannins and well-integrated oak. It's complex, medium bodied and mighty good drinking.

While the Fairbank range is designed for vibrancy and early enjoyment, the Estate Syrah is crafted for power, elegance and longevity, with fruit drawn from the best parcels on the property. Sutton Grange has built its reputation on Syrah, and this wine is the purest expression of their philosophy – meticulous biodynamic farming, minimal intervention winemaking and a deep respect for place.

In the glass it is a deep, concentrated crimson with purple edges. The bouquet is complex and brooding, with dark plum, blackberry and mulberry interwoven with violet, pepper, liquorice, star anise and savoury herbs. On the palate it is full-bodied yet finely structured, with layers of rich dark fruit supported by firm but polished tannins and bright acidity. Notes of smoked meat, cocoa and earth add savoury depth, while the finish is long, powerful and elegant, carrying both strength and finesse.

Food pairings highlight its intensity and savoury power: slow-roasted lamb shoulder, braised beef cheeks, venison with juniper, or roasted root vegetables with herbs. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses such as Comté or Parmigiano Reggiano. With 12 to 15 years of cellaring potential, the Estate Syrah evolves into a wine of profound complexity, gaining truffle, leather and dried spice notes while retaining its vibrant core.
