Very classy and typical of Sassicaia with currant, tobacco, chocolate, sage and lavender on the nose and palate. Medium- to full-bodied with very integrated and refined tannins that are caressing and pretty with a lovely length and beauty. Such finesse and structure at the same time. Best in 2028 and beyond but already joy to taste.

Tenuta San Guido, an iconic estate in Tuscany, is best known for its legendary wine Sassicaia, the original "Super Tuscan." Located in Bolgheri, the estate has a unique terroir influenced by its coastal position along the Tyrrhenian Sea, which creates a cooling effect that enhances grape ripening. The soil here, a mix of clay, limestone, and stony gravel, is reminiscent of Bordeaux’s top terroirs, making it ideal for growing Bordeaux varieties. Created with meticulous care, Sassicaia is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, crafted to capture the elegance and complexity of Bolgheri.
Sassicaia is celebrated for its layered aromas of blackberry, cassis, and violet, with undertones of cedar and herbs. The palate reveals rich dark fruit, spice, and a hint of graphite, supported by silky tannins and vibrant acidity. Its structure, depth, and long, refined finish make it a perfect candidate for aging, evolving beautifully over time. This wine pairs exceptionally with roasted meats, truffle dishes, and fine cheeses.
Sassicaia has garnered numerous accolades over the years. Notably, the 1985 and 2016 vintages received perfect 100-point scores from esteemed wine critic Robert Parker. In 2018, Wine Spectator named the 2015 vintage as the "Wine of the Year," highlighting its exceptional quality and reinforcing Sassicaia's status as a benchmark in the wine industry.
