From the cool, elevated slopes of Bloody Hill comes a Tempranillo that shows just how adaptable this Spanish variety can be in the Yarra Valley. Timo Mayer, the German born, minimal intervention vigneron with a fiercely loyal following, approaches Tempranillo with the same whole bunch energy and hands on philosophy that define his cult wines. Fermented with wild yeasts and handled gently in the cellar, the wine captures freshness and spice rather than heavy oak influence. Produced in small quantities and tightly allocated, it is another release that regularly sells out quickly among collectors chasing distinctive, character filled reds.

Deep ruby with crimson flashes, the aromatics are lifted and savoury. Red cherry, plum and cranberry sit alongside dried herbs, bay leaf and a touch of anise. Whole bunch inclusion brings a subtle floral lift and spice, adding aromatic tension and complexity.

On the palate it is medium bodied, vibrant and structured. Juicy red and dark fruits glide across fine, chalky tannins supported by bright natural acidity.
