A blend of 58/14/14/9/5% cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/merlot/petit verdot/malbec. Matured 20 months in French barriques (35% new). Bright crimson purple. From a great year, this is a beautifully fragrant and seductive Yeringberg with its aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, cherry blossom, violets and just the right amount of oak-derived cedar and pencil-shaving scents. The epitome of medium bodied, it's elegant, discreet and persistent on the palate, even at this early juncture. Equally important, the fruit is perfectly framed by the wine's fine-grained and silky tannins and, as has been demonstrated on many occasions, this will mature slowly and gracefully.

Yeringberg Yeringberg Bordeaux Blend from the Yarra Valley is one of Australia’s most timeless and character rich estate reds, a wine that feels as much a piece of family history as it does a modern icon. The de Pury family has farmed this remarkable hillside property since the eighteen sixties, and their Bordeaux blend has long been considered a benchmark for elegance, nuance and longevity in cool climate Australian reds. The vineyard sits on elevated, north facing slopes of volcanic loam, mudstone and gravel that naturally produce small berries, fine tannins and beautifully aromatic fruit. Each of the five traditional Bordeaux varieties is grown, picked and fermented separately before gentle ageing in French oak, allowing Sandra de Pury to assemble a blend that is poised, savoury and full of quiet power.
The nose is wonderfully layered. Blackcurrant, mulberry and dark cherry meet rose petal, bay leaf, cedar, pencil shavings and a cool graphite thread drawn straight from the Yarra’s ancient soils. As air works its way in, hints of plum skin, violets, tobacco leaf, cacao and warm spice rise from the glass. It’s aromatic in a way only Yarra Valley Cabernet based wines truly are: lifted, detailed, uncluttered and deeply expressive.
The palate is medium bodied yet incredibly complete. Fine, silky tannins support flavours of blackcurrant, red plum, sour cherry, cassis, dried herbs and subtle forest floor. A line of bright natural acidity gives the wine drive and elegance, while French oak contributes shape and savoury depth rather than overt flavour. As the wine opens, layers of cedar, graphite, cocoa, redcurrant, thyme and earthy spice unfold with calm, slow confidence. The finish is long, dry and beautifully refined, lingering with black fruit, leaf, spice and mineral finesse. With five to fifteen years in the cellar it becomes even more profound, developing cigar box, truffle, leather and mature violet perfume.
Perfect with roast lamb, beef rib, duck with cherry sauce, mushroom ragù, cassoulet, hard cheeses, chargrilled vegetables or anything cooked low and slow. It is equally compelling on its own, especially with a little aeration to let the layers unfurl.
