Aged in single and double barrels for the first year, 15% new wood, then racked to foudre. An even and charming purple. The bouquet is delicious, half southern end (strawberries) half Brochon (richer fruit) together makes a great blend, with excellent energy at the back.

Now that En Champs has its own cuvée, the Gevrey village wine is a blend of old-vine Les Seuvrées in the south, with a complement of northern vineyards, including Les Crais and Les Champerriers. Then, there is a brilliant (and brilliantly named) Brochon vineyard, Les Jeunes Rois, which brings dimension and spicy freshness to this cuvée. Each parcel was vinified separately before blending, with 85% of the fruit destemmed. The wine aged in 600-litre and 225-litre barrels (15% new). As for Nuits, so for Gevrey, with Leroux fashioning a village wine with finesse and seduction rarely seen in this village.
