93-95 points Jasper Morris MW Inside Burgundy
Leroux started with Aux Boudots in 2015. His 0.3-hectare parcel lies on rocky soil on the upper slope, where the vines squeeze out particularly small bunches of Pinot Fin. As a result, this parcel can handle a large percentage of bunches. Boudots is often referred to as the most Vosne-like of Nuits-St-Georges wines, though Leroux doesn’t exactly agree. Even though his parcel in Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts is only a stone’s throw away, Leroux says the wines behave entirely differently in the cellar. Lalou Bize Leroy, who farms over one hectare in Boudots, echoes this sentiment in Jasper Morris’s Inside Burgundy. Indeed, Leroux regards Boudots as home to “the true character of Nuit-St-Georges”. Having said all that, this is wonderfully fine and perfumed Nuits—incredibly floral, fleshy and long. The powdery grip makes it clear where you are, but before that, I’m sorry, I might have guessed Vosne! No matter what it tastes like, it’s outstanding! Again, Ben worked with plenty of bunches for this terroir.
