Fresh mid purple. This also has a fresher quality to the fruit, lively strawberry, I thought of some whole bunches but they were not used. Perhaps not quite the length here of the best in the stable. A little austerity at the back within the context of this vintage.

Benjamin Leroux is a renowned winemaker from Burgundy, France, celebrated for his meticulous approach to viticulture and winemaking. Known for crafting exceptional wines that express the unique terroir of Burgundy, Benjamin Leroux has earned a reputation for producing some of the finest Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the region. His commitment to biodynamic practices and minimal intervention in the winemaking process ensures that each bottle reflects the true character of the vineyard.
Mitans derives from the old French for centre, and this is likely the source of the name as this Cru lies at the heart of the appellation, on the slopes beneath the village. Leroux’s 0.65-hectare parcel is close to the Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre and encroaches into the Mitans l’Ormeau lieu-dit. The soil is fine clay shot through with limestone, which preserves maximum moisture for the vines in the drier summer periods. The vines are 50 years old on average. This is a deep yet punchy and sapid Volnay that shows just how great a year 2022 is for Côte de Beaune reds. Power and finesse.
