Juicy and clean, this has a lovely soft elegance, lighter in terms of fruit density than some, but still super tannic, they're fleshy but cool and really fill the mouth. This keeps the precision though, a full and dense wine, but stays the right side in all the areas - acidity, fruit, tannins, freshness and length. Nice potential here for a really enjoyable easy drinking wine still with flavour and structure. Tasted twice. Harvest 9-26 September. Yield of 29hl/ha. Ageing in French oak for 18 months.

A firm red with blackberry and blueberry aromas and flavors. Medium body, slightly chewy tannins and a medium finish.

A Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend that includes roughly 20% Merlot, the 2022 Château Rauzan-Gassies might end up being the finest vintage I've tasted from this château. Loaded with red, blue, and black fruits, it's medium to full-bodied, has supple, elegant tannins, classic aromatics of lead pencil and dried flowers, and outstanding length.

92-94 points Jeb Dunnnuck

A highly successful Rauzan Gassies that provides a understated, nuanced interpretation of the vintage, with waves of red rose and peony floral aromatics and toasted spice from the first nose. Has depth and concentration of black cherry and cassis fruits, and balances the flash of heat with plenty of white pepper and cinnammon notes, fresh lemongrass acidities and a lift through the palate. Impressive from the Quié family, and should be good value.

Château Rauzan Gassies has been a proud part of the Margaux landscape since the 1855 Classification, when it was recognised as a Second Growth for the exceptional quality of its vineyards. Today the estate continues to honour its heritage, producing Cabernet Sauvignon led wines that capture the fragrance, elegance and longevity for which Margaux is celebrated.

The vineyards occupy deep gravel soils overlooking the Gironde Estuary, where Cabernet Sauvignon is complemented by Merlot. The outstanding 2022 vintage delivered fruit of remarkable concentration and freshness, creating a wine that balances richness with precision while retaining the perfume and refinement that distinguish the finest wines of Margaux.

The colour is a deep garnet with vibrant purple highlights. Aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum are lifted by violets, cedar, graphite and delicate spice. The palate is refined and beautifully structured, weaving ripe dark fruits through polished tannins and vibrant acidity. Notes of cocoa, tobacco leaf and crushed stone linger across a long, harmonious finish that reflects the estate's classical style.

A magnificent companion to roast lamb, beef Wellington, venison with celeriac or wild mushroom pithivier. Although already expressive with a generous decant, this distinguished Margaux will continue to evolve gracefully for two decades or more.
