Domaine Auvigue Mâcon-Villages Moulin du Pont from the Mâconnais region in Burgundy is a charming, classic Chardonnay that combines elegance with a touch of French countryside flair. Domaine Auvigue, a family-owned winery with a long history of winemaking in the region, specializes in producing wines that express the terroir of southern Burgundy, particularly the limestone-rich soils that are perfect for cultivating Chardonnay. "Moulin du Pont" is one of their signature expressions, offering the fresh, vibrant character that makes Mâcon-Villages wines so beloved.
This wine greets you with aromas of green apple, pear, and citrus, like a gentle breeze carrying the scent of an orchard in springtime. There’s also a whisper of white flowers and a hint of almond, making you feel like you’ve just stumbled upon the most delightful French picnic spot. On the palate, it’s refreshingly crisp, with flavors of lemon zest, peach, and a subtle touch of minerality. It has a smooth, clean texture, thanks to stainless steel fermentation that preserves the bright fruit flavors without any heavy oak influence—keeping it as light and lively as a morning walk through a vineyard.
Moulin du Pont is a versatile food companion, pairing beautifully with seafood, salads, light pastas, or simply a baguette with some creamy Brie (because, why not?). It’s an ideal choice for a sunny afternoon or when you want to bring a little slice of French life to your table.
The name ‘Auvigue’ was already known in 1629 in the vineyards of Beaujolais and Mâconnais. Today, the grapes come from family estates covering 6 hectares including two that have been organically farmed for over 20 years in the Mâcon-Solutré and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations. To allow each parcel to present the unique microclimates, Jean-Pierre and Michel Auvigue always adapts the vinification process to the requirement of each plot. The wines are only lightly filtered before being bottled to retain all the elements required for the development of their true Burgundian nature.
