The 2022 Le Mont Demi-Sec is less fruity and charming than, say, Clos du Bourg; its tension and line come from its flinty terroir. Despite its 21g/L residual sugar, it retains a sense of tautness without being totally linear. Radish and pear notes linger on the long finish. This is grown-up demi-sec.

This off-dry Vouvray has terrific depth and a lovely creaminess that’s hard to resist, but it’s tightly wound and needs some time for the aromas to unfurl. With some aeration, red apple and honeysuckle notes emerge. Long, very clean finish that’s pretty dry thanks to the bright acidity. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Demi-Sec from the Loire Valley is a benchmark expression of Chenin Blanc, showcasing the balance between richness and vibrant freshness that defines the best wines of Vouvray. Domaine Huet, founded in 1928, is one of the region’s most revered producers, known for biodynamic viticulture and crafting wines that reflect the unique terroir of its three legendary vineyards: Le Mont, Clos du Bourg, and Haut-Lieu. Le Mont vineyard, with its shallow, stony soils over limestone, produces wines of incredible precision, minerality, and longevity.
Pale gold in color, this Demi-Sec offers an aromatic bouquet of ripe quince, green apple, and citrus blossom, with hints of acacia honey, ginger, and chalky minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and finely textured, delivering flavors of baked pear, lemon curd, and apricot, beautifully balanced by lively acidity. The wine’s natural sweetness is perfectly integrated, creating a seamless harmony between fruit, acidity, and minerality. The finish is long and clean, with lingering notes of citrus peel and wet stone.
Domaine Huet Le Mont Demi-Sec pairs wonderfully with a range of dishes, including roast pork, duck with orange sauce, and creamy cheeses like Brillat-Savarin. Its versatility also makes it a great companion for spicy Asian cuisine and rich vegetable tarts. While already impressive, this wine has extraordinary aging potential, evolving over 20–30 years to reveal deeper honeyed and nutty complexities.
Domaine Huet’s dedication to tradition and terroir-driven winemaking makes Le Mont Demi-Sec a true collector’s wine, offering a perfect balance of power, elegance, and age-worthy charm.
