Tasted from multiple blends, the 2022 Vin De France Liberty has a medium to full-bodied, pure, incredibly polished style in its red, blue, and black fruits as well as peppery, violet, and tropical flower-like aromas and flavors. It's balanced, has a terrific sense of freshness, and a great finish.

Domaine La Barroche Liberty Vin de France is a rebellious and utterly drinkable red from one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s most respected producers. Crafted by Julien Barrot, Liberty steps outside the strict boundaries of appellation rules to offer a freer, more expressive take on southern Rhône fruit—hence the name. It’s a celebration of vibrant Grenache-driven character with a fresher, more youthful twist.
While Domaine La Barroche is best known for its structured, age-worthy Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines, Liberty is intentionally made in a more immediate, supple style. Sourced from younger vines around the Rhône (including some outside the Châteauneuf borders), the wine blends Grenache with a splash of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Whole-bunch fermentation and ageing in concrete vats preserve its brightness and energy.
In the glass, it bursts with juicy red cherry, crushed raspberry, wild herbs and a touch of peppery spice. The palate is silky and fresh, medium-bodied with fine, easygoing tannins and a savoury edge that keeps it food-friendly and far from simple. It’s Rhône with a wink—lively, delicious, and unpretentious.
Perfect for Mediterranean-style food like grilled lamb chops, charcuterie, ratatouille or a lentil and chorizo stew. Best enjoyed young over the next few years, served slightly cool.
