Aromas are packed tightly, with toast and almond blossom, pink grapefruit, sage, nutmeg. Solid start lingering mostly in the savoury-spicy zone. Acidity is amazing, so high, cleansing, vibrating and twisting the tongue. Talcum powder fine texture to finish and more of the pure grapefruit pith and zest too. Great stuff, needed a moment to open up.

Fetherston Estate Iris Chardonnay from Yarra Valley is a refined and elegant expression of cool-climate Chardonnay. The winery, known for its sustainable practices and attention to detail, produces wines that reflect the distinct terroir of Yarra Valley, a region renowned for producing some of Australia’s finest Chardonnays. The cool climate and diverse soils allow for slow ripening, resulting in wines that are both complex and balanced.
The Iris Chardonnay offers aromas of citrus, white peach, and green apple, with subtle hints of flint and toasted almonds from careful oak aging. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with vibrant acidity that enhances flavors of lemon curd, nectarine, and a touch of creamy texture. The judicious use of oak provides structure without overpowering the fruit, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, roasted chicken, and creamy pasta dishes.
