Wonderfully spicy and ethereal nose with plenty of white tree fruit aromas. Good substance and well-integrated structure on the medium-bodied palate. The spring-like freshness keeps this light on its feet through the long elegant finish. Drink or hold.

'The 2022er Paulinshofberger Riesling Trocken GG, as it is referred to on the front label, is a bone-dry wine which was fermented and aged in Fuder and stainless-steel tanks from vines located just under the Monzeler Kätzchen and at the right-hand side of the rocky part of the vineyard. It offers an intense nose of anise, minty herbs, smoke, Conference pear, candied grapefruit, and earthy spices. The wine is beautifully playful and juicy on the finely juicy and fruity palate. The finish is still marked by a touch of tartness in need of integration and proves slightly broader and powerful. This is a very impressive dry Riesling in the making. 2025-2034.

Few estates capture the magic of the Mosel quite like Fritz Haag. The winery's history stretches back more than four centuries, with the Haag family farming some of the region's most dramatic slate slopes since 1605. Today, Oliver Haag continues the work of his late father Wilhelm Haag, one of Germany's most revered winemakers. Under his stewardship, Fritz Haag remains a benchmark producer, crafting Rieslings that combine purity, precision and an extraordinary ability to express individual vineyard sites.
The Kestener Paulinshofberg vineyard is one of the Mosel's hidden treasures. Situated on steep, south facing slopes above the village of Kesten, its weathered Devonian slate soils provide exceptional drainage while reflecting sunlight back onto the vines. Classified as a Grosses Gewächs vineyard, Germany's highest designation for dry wines, Paulinshofberg produces Rieslings of remarkable concentration, mineral intensity and ageing potential. The outstanding 2022 vintage delivered fruit with superb balance between ripeness and acidity.
Pale straw with shimmering green highlights, the wine opens with a captivating bouquet of lime blossom, white peach and green apple layered with notes of lemon zest, crushed slate and delicate white flowers. The palate is laser focused and intensely detailed, combining flavours of citrus, nectarine and ripe orchard fruits with extraordinary mineral precision. A powerful backbone of acidity drives the wine across the palate, creating tension and energy without sacrificing elegance. The finish is exceptionally long and pure, unfolding with layers of wet stone, lime and saline complexity.
This is a magnificent partner for freshly shucked oysters, grilled lobster, sashimi, steamed snapper with ginger and shallots or a delicate asparagus and herb tart. While already thrilling, it is built for long term cellaring and will continue to develop remarkable complexity over the next twenty years or more, gaining notes of honey, toast and exotic spice while retaining its crystalline structure.
