Ripe, lush and concentrated black fruit with chocolate notes and ferrous earthiness
I've always liked the Alices Shiraz in this winery's portfolio. Incredibly concentrated and lush with uber-ripe blackberry, black cherry and satsuma plum fruits. Hints of baking spices, dark chocolate-dipped cherries and raspberries with blueberry pie, citrus blossom, earth and dark chocolate bullets. It comes across as impossibly packed with fruit, the ferrous tannins have a bit of chew, and the wine sails off on a cloud of liquored cherry and plums. Drink to 2035.

This 2022 Seppeltsfield Shiraz is quite stunning and beautifully showcases the exceptional 2022 vintage. Powerful and rich but with enough finer detail to back it up – licorice, strong earthy tones and gravel tipped with meat spices and a solid serve of American oak, fifteen percent new. But then also great density and solid base of tannins opening to a broad finish. Drink to 2040.

Intense notes of campfire, blackberry and rosemary make way for a juicy core that is tightly structured. Savoury flavours of coffee and mulch mix with berry compote on the palate. This is a bold and hearty shiraz that offers both flavour and freshness, setting it up to age nicely. Drink to 2031.

Greenock Creek was established in 1984 by Michael and Annabelle Waugh with a vision of producing terroir led single vineyard expressions of Shiraz. Accumulating a series of old, dry-land, low-yielding Barossa vineyards, they succeeded on a scale few could have imagined.
The Waughs’ retired in 2018, with new owners hiring Alex Peel as the senior winemaker. He has bought a fresh precision to a house style that has always been defined by power, integrity and a fierce respect for site. This has been achieved by small but important adjustments in managing vineyard health and by promoting quality control at every step in the winery.
The fruit for this wine comes from a block planted in 1997 on slaty siltstone mixed with dark brown clays and loam.
