2022 Heirloom Tempranillo, Adelaide Hills

This excellent medium bodied and thoroughly delicious earlier drinking Temp comes from the Adelaide Hills, demonstrating this region’s versatility. Bright lift of raspberry and dried herbs on the nose capture much of what Tempranillo brings to the table. The palate is soft and supple, delivering a whole basket of red fruits to a sustained finish. Great current drinking. Drink 2024 to 2030.

Dense and dark, as if this is a wine that may well be brooding, but do not fear. A leading bouquet of faintly detectable oak, which reminds motoring enthusiasts of leather upholstery across the front seat of an open car. Aromas of Damson and Jambul plums, roses, heightened spice and green herbs. A burst of savoury plum and wild strawberry fruit flavour starts the wine but in a shadow that quickly disappears as the mid-palate is quickly engulfed in fine, clean acid before the smooth, powdery and moreish tannins wrap the wine up. Hence a dry, long after palate that balances the subtle, underlying fruit sweetness.
