Aglianico is often called the Barolo of the south thanks to its firm structure and ageing potential, but Hither & Yon flips the script. The Leask brothers have coaxed something juicy and energetic out of this noble variety without losing its spicy, savoury bite. Organically farmed on their estate vineyard, the fruit ripens beautifully in the Mediterranean-like climate, showing dark cherry, earthy spice, and a wild herbal edge.

In the winery it’s all about keeping the energy high and the winemaking light touch. Fermentation in small batches with gentle handling, a short stay in old oak, and bottled young to lock in that vibrancy. The result? Aglianico that’s grippy but playful, bold but balanced.

On the nose there’s cherry cola, fresh rosemary, crushed plum, and dried rose petals. The palate is juicy and structured with bright acidity, chewy tannins, and a spicy finish that keeps things lively. It’s a red that can handle anything from woodfired pizza to barbecued lamb or even a chill and a sunny afternoon.
