The 2022 Pommard Village offers up aromas of sweet red berries, plums, spices and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and lively palate with a taut, ethereal profile that reflects the fact that most of the cuvée is derived from the cool, northeasterly exposures of the windy lieu-dit of Valmuriens. The beautifully refined tannins, however, reflect the quality of Bouley’s viticulture.

Jean-Marc Bouley Pommard from Burgundy is a classic expression of this renowned appellation, combining the power and structure for which Pommard is known with an elegant, modern touch. Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley, led by Thomas Bouley, has become one of the standout producers in the Côte de Beaune, known for its organic farming practices and meticulous attention to detail in both the vineyard and winery. This Pommard is crafted from a selection of vineyards around the village, resulting in a balanced wine that highlights the depth and complexity of the terroir.

Deep ruby in color, the wine opens with aromas of black cherry, redcurrant, and plum, interwoven with notes of violet, earthy spice, and a hint of graphite. The palate is medium to full-bodied, offering concentrated red and dark fruit flavors, supported by firm yet fine tannins and refreshing acidity. Subtle touches of forest floor and savory herbs add complexity, while the long, mineral-driven finish reveals hints of cocoa and crushed stone.

This Pommard pairs beautifully with roast duck, braised beef, and game dishes such as venison. It also complements mushroom-based dishes, charcuterie, and aged cheeses like Comté. While enjoyable in its youth with some decanting, this wine will reward patience, evolving over the next 10–15 years to reveal additional layers of complexity.

Jean-Marc Bouley’s dedication to terroir and precision winemaking shines in this Pommard, offering a wine that is both powerful and refined—perfect for Burgundy enthusiasts and collectors alike.
