La Crema Sealift Pinot Noir from California’s Sonoma Coast is a beautifully polished, cool-climate expression of Pinot Noir that balances coastal freshness with plush Californian fruit. Crafted by La Crema’s experienced team led by winemaker Craig McAllister, this wine is all about finesse, vibrancy and the signature marine influence of the Sonoma Coast AVA.
The grapes for Sealift come from vineyards influenced by the nearby Pacific Ocean, where fog and chilly breezes moderate temperatures and extend the growing season. This slower ripening builds complexity and preserves the grape’s natural acidity, a hallmark of top-tier Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.
Vinification involves gentle handling to preserve the fruit’s delicate aromas. Fermentation is in small, open-top fermenters with regular punch-downs, followed by ageing in a mix of French oak barrels, a portion of which is new, to add spice and subtle structure.
In the glass, this Pinot is fragrant with wild raspberries, red plum, rose petals and a hint of coastal sage. The palate shows silky tannins, a bright acid line, and flavours of cherry compote, pomegranate, black tea and subtle earthiness. The oak is well integrated, offering just a whisper of toast and spice on the finish.
It’s elegant, poised and versatile at the table. Pair with grilled duck breast, mushroom risotto, roasted salmon or even a herbed pork tenderloin.
