The 2022 Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat Les Longeays has a complex bouquet demonstrating why it is currently being considered for Premier Cru status. It's pretty mineral-driven. Wild mint and sea spray notes surface with time in the glass. The palate is nicely balanced with stem ginger on the entry. The 2022 shows fine weight and is tangy towards the finish. This wine feels powerful yet retains plenty of refinement. Excellent.

La Soufrandière Les Longeays Pouilly-Vinzelles Biodynamic is a beautifully poised Chardonnay from the Mâconnais that reflects both the personality of its limestone-rich vineyard and the precision of the Bret Brothers’ biodynamic craftsmanship. Located just below the more famous Les Quarts vineyard, Les Longeays offers a slightly richer, rounder expression while still anchored by the mineral tension that defines great southern Burgundy.

Farmed biodynamically since 2001 and certified by Demeter, Les Longeays sits on clay-limestone soils with excellent drainage and southeast-facing exposure, allowing for full ripening without loss of freshness. The vineyard is entirely hand-tended and harvested, with all fruit gently pressed and fermented using native yeasts. The wine is then aged on fine lees in a mix of older oak barrels and large foudres to preserve purity while adding quiet texture.

In the glass, it opens with aromas of ripe lemon, white stone fruit, hazelnut, and crushed shell. The palate is layered yet precise, with juicy citrus and peach woven into a fine mineral backbone. There's a sense of quiet power here—less austere than Les Quarts, but equally elegant, with a lingering saline finish and excellent balance.

Perfect with roasted chicken, shellfish, or soft cheeses like Chaource or Brie de Meaux, Les Longeays is a brilliant example of site-driven Chardonnay with both charm and structure. It’s another standout from a domaine that has redefined the potential of the Mâconnais.
