Though succulent, there's density, power and structure informing this beefy red. Black cherry, blackberry, earth, iron, vanilla and toasty oak flavors are wrapped in a cloak of ripe tannins, lending a wild, almost savage feel. The finish is compact today, yet this will be fine in 5–7 years. Best from 2028 through 2048.

96 points Wine Spectator

The hill of Corton has always stood apart in Burgundy, producing Grand Cru wines with a deeper, more commanding personality than many of the Côte de Beaune’s more delicate expressions. Louis Latour knows these slopes intimately. The family has owned vineyards on Corton since the 1800s and remains one of the most important custodians of the appellation. Corton Perrières comes from a stony, limestone rich site that gives Pinot Noir both structure and remarkable mineral drive, creating wines built for serious ageing.

The 2022 vintage is powerful yet beautifully composed. Black cherry, dark plum and wild blackberry sweep through the glass alongside layers of violets, forest floor, clove and crushed stone. There is an unmistakable earthy grandeur here, the kind of complexity that slowly unfolds over hours rather than minutes. Careful oak maturation adds notes of cedar, cocoa and gentle smoke, while the tannins remain finely sculpted despite the wine’s intensity. The finish is long, savoury and deeply mineral, carrying hints of black tea, truffle and spice long after the last sip.

This is a bottle for proper occasions and unhurried meals. Roast venison with juniper would be exceptional, though it would also shine beside duck with black cherries, slow braised short ribs or wild mushroom dishes rich with thyme and butter. Given air, the wine keeps evolving beautifully through the evening, revealing more floral lift and savoury nuance with every glass. It has the concentration and balance to cellar comfortably for 15 to 20 years, rewarding patience in the way only great Grand Cru Burgundy can.
