Pale straw with detailed aromas of white peach, nectarine and grapefruit. Hints of fine spice, grilled cashews, struck flint, clotted cream, oatmeal, white flowers, vanillin oak and stone. There's a wonderful clarity to this wine. You can, should you so desire, sit there and delineate all the individual components: lemon curd and a myriad of other tones. Or you can be happy that it is just so delicious, with scintillating minerally precision and drive, finishing dry, long, grapefruity and creamy. A great release and one of concentration and focus.

The Lowestoft Estate Chardonnay from the Derwent Valley in Tasmania is a refined and complex expression of cool-climate Australian winemaking. Produced by Lowestoft, a boutique winery committed to crafting premium wines, this Chardonnay reflects the unique terroir of Tasmania’s renowned Derwent Valley.

The Derwent Valley, with its cool maritime climate and pristine environment, provides ideal conditions for Chardonnay. The region’s long growing season allows the grapes to develop intense flavor while retaining bright natural acidity. The fruit for the Lowestoft Estate Chardonnay is hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure only the finest quality is used.

Winemaking combines traditional and modern techniques. The wine is fermented in French oak barrels, with a portion of new oak to enhance texture and complexity. Lees stirring during maturation adds richness and depth, while maintaining the vibrant character of the fruit.

In the glass, the Chardonnay displays a pale gold color with green highlights. The nose is elegant and layered, with aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and nectarine, complemented by subtle notes of toasted almond, flint, and vanilla.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and finely textured, offering flavors of citrus, stone fruit, and a hint of brioche. A lively acidity and a mineral backbone provide balance, leading to a long, clean finish with a touch of spice.

This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with dishes such as roasted chicken, grilled seafood, or creamy pasta. Its complexity also makes it a standout choice for special occasions or refined dining. While delightful now, the wine has the potential to age gracefully for 5-7 years.
