From a single block at 880m elevation with soils dominated by quartz; aged in new French oak puncheons on lees for 11 months. White gardenia, lemon balm, pomelo and apple flesh. Oyster shell, crushed sand and nashi pear. The wine is tightly wound with crystalline minerality and a core of pure lemon Icy Pole citrus. Fruit is compact and oak cradles it like a hammock. This acidity shimmers like the sparkle of fresh snow, it's agile, energetic and dances across the palate. Orange chardonnay handled just right, the vineyard expression up in lights. Stunning.

This single block Chardy is, as they say, “a showcase of our vineyard”. Fermentation with 100% grape solids before transfer to new and older French puncheons, hogsheads and barrels with 50% malo. Whether one prefers this or the Thomas really will come down to personal preference as both are cracking wines. For me, this takes the biscuit by the barest whisker. A very pale lemon hue, the wine is leaner, more focused, more obviously elegant (does the small reduction in malo make that much difference or is it the vineyard source?). River stone notes, hints of stonefruit and a minerally backing. Also finely balanced with good, citrussy acidity running the length. For me, the length here is slightly superior to the Thomas, but I know that support is divided (that said, you can’t go wrong selecting either). Enjoy over the next six to eight years

Gorgeously styled and enticing, the bouquet shows grilled peach, mango, vanilla, cedar and brioche aromas, leading to a powerfully expressed palate offering awesome weight and persistency. The wine is wonderfully textured with plush mouthfeel backed by beautifully pitched acidity, finishing delectable and persistent. At its best: now to 2032.
