Pale lemon to straw yellow colour. White peach, roasted cashews and hints of smoky oyster aromas lift from the glass. Palate opens with bright peach and hints of grapefruit, then smoky nuttiness fills in and builds complexity and power. The most southern of McHenry Hohnen's vineyards which is more inland than the Burnside and Calgardup Brook vineyards. Hazel’s combines cooling Southern Ocean influences with a northerly aspect and plenty of sunshine.
Creamy, nutty and textured, this Chardonnay is both powerful in fruit concentration and restrained by a precise acid line. A layered wine with persistence, power and grace and a true representation of this south Margaret River vineyard positioned just inland from the coast.
