2022 Mount Horrocks Semillon Organic, Clare Valley

A light, bright yellow colour; spicy and nutty barrel-fermented aromas superimposed on gently grassy/herbal semillon fruit. Light-medium bodied, a clean and beautifully finished wine, and very good—it does'nt show too much of the herbal side of semillon. 10 MAR 2023 Drink 2023–2032

Certified organic and biodynamic, as is the way of Mount Horrocks. This is the regional benchmark for the variety and continues its proud legacy of offering a hallmark acid profile with the softness of lemon, ginger and a pleasing wet herbal detail. This release is perhaps a bit more minerally, with a pumice-like aspect to texture and suggestions of that porous stone in the finishing licks of the wine. It's a wonderful drink, attractive in its refreshment factor but offering the promise of further potential in its benign decay over years. Good stuff.
