High on the slope above Puligny Montrachet, En Remilly is one of Saint Aubin’s standout Premier Cru sites, delivering that Puligny like precision at a fraction of the attention. Olivier Leflaive captures that beautifully here, working these limestone rich parcels to highlight tension, minerality and finesse rather than weight.
The 2022 vintage brings a touch of generosity to the naturally taut style. Aromatics open with lemon zest, grapefruit and green apple, with white peach adding a softer edge. There is a clear chalky, flinty character, alongside subtle notes of almond and a hint of spice.
On the palate it is medium bodied and tightly structured, with a firm line of acidity driving the wine. Citrus leads, supported by a fine texture from lees work, before the wine narrows into a long, mineral finish with a lightly saline edge. It feels focused and energetic, very much about precision.
Olivier Leflaive’s winemaking is measured and controlled, careful pressing, restrained oak and patient élevage allowing the vineyard’s character to come through cleanly.
This is a brilliant match for seafood that leans toward freshness and detail. Think oysters, sashimi or grilled prawns with lemon and herbs. It also works beautifully with dishes like a prawn and chilli pasta, roast chicken with thyme, or a zucchini and herb tart, where the wine’s acidity and mineral line keep everything lifted.
Drinking beautifully now with some air, it will reward patience over the next eight to ten years, developing more nutty, savoury complexity while holding its structure.
