2022 Peter Lehmann Hill & Valley Tempranillo, Barossa Valley

The Hill & Valley range draws on fruit from the regions surrounding the Peter Lehmann winery — cooler elevated sites in the Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley alongside warmer Barossa Valley floor vineyards.

Tempranillo has found a natural home in the Barossa, producing wines with the red fruit brightness and fine tannin structure the grape is known for in its Spanish homeland. The Hill & Valley expression is made to be approachable and food-friendly rather than structured for cellaring.

Bright ruby, the nose shows ripe cherry, red plum and raspberry with hints of spice, leather and earthy undertones. The palate is medium-bodied and lively with juicy red fruit, fine tannins and a clean, persistent finish.

Easy drinking, serve this lightly cooled with grilled pork chops or maybe a simple pasta with tomato sauce.
