Such a distinctive chenin, as in very much a Pierro wine. Highly perfumed with lavender, green olives in brine, mastic verging on the smell of just-cut raw pine wood. There’s a lot going here: textural with barely ripe Packham pears, raw quince flavour and phenolics with a slip of creaminess. Super dry on the finish, super delicious to drink.

Oh, so easy to drink. This is a chenin from a small patch in the Pierro vineyard that is now quite mature. It’s a flinty dry style with slightly muted aromas but a palate that displays a driving apple and pear character with the lift of fine citrus and an ever so subtle grassy edge. Gradual flavour build-up then releases with energy. Has the fruit and acid to handle extended cellaring.

In 1980 Dr Michael Peterkin planted a 1.5 acre plot of chenin blanc which has now grown into lovely old vines yielding small amounts of delicious grapes. Each passing year Dr Peterkin thought to himself
' I should make a special wine from these vines'
Nunc Tempus Est - Now is the time.
The grapes were picked by hand early in the morning and chilled prior to pressing. They were pressed very gently to extract only the finest juice for a cool ferment in tank where the wine then rested and matured over the winter months. The wine was bottled in spring as fresh as the morning it was picked.
Bone dry, with flavours of honey, straw and apples, this will be a long- lived wine if cellared between 14-16 degrees. Bottled in lightweight glass to help reduce our carbon footprint
