Bright ruby purple. Nose of cassis, fine grassy notes, with some savouriness and red bell pepper. Lots of vegetal tannins on the palate, but also beautiful freshness and clear fruit.

The Planeta family has been instrumental in showcasing Sicily’s potential, blending local varieties like Nero d’Avola with international grapes to create wines that are both expressive and approachable, all shaped by sunshine, sea breezes and varied soils.

The 2022 release is bright and inviting from the outset. Deep ruby in colour, the aromatics open with ripe plum, cherry and blackberry, followed by hints of Mediterranean herbs, spice and a gentle earthy note that reflects the landscape.

The palate is medium bodied and juicy, with dark fruit at its core supported by soft, approachable tannins. There is a nice balance between ripeness and freshness, with a subtle savoury edge and a touch of spice carrying through the finish. It is smooth, easy going and very food friendly.

This is a natural match for relaxed, flavour driven dishes. Pasta with tomato and herbs, grilled meats, or roasted vegetables all work beautifully. It also pairs well with pizza and casual shared plates.
