The 2022 Chianti Classico is a pretty rich wine for Il Poggerino. It shows the heat and dryness of the year in its intense dark red fruit. Even so, Piero Lanza has done a terrific job of avoiding the hard tannins that penalize other wines.

A small organic estate dedicated to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking methods, this Chianti Classico DOCG reflects the unique terroir of the region’s rolling hills and limestone-rich soils.After ageing for 12 months the wine is assembled and bottled the following spring. The wine is aged for a minimum of 8 months before sale. Bright ruby red colour. On the nose notes of blackberries, leather, cherries and red currant with a touch of liquorice and vanilla. Sweet and persistent tannins.
