2022 Printhie Mountain Range Shiraz, Orange

Printhie Mountain Range Shiraz from Orange is a bold, cool-climate Shiraz that brings power and elegance together in perfect harmony. Grown on the slopes of Mount Canobolas at high elevation in New South Wales’ Orange region, this Shiraz benefits from a long growing season, volcanic soils, and crisp mountain air—all of which shape its vibrant fruit character, fine tannins, and bright natural acidity.

The Mountain Range series represents Printhie’s more approachable and expressive wines—crafted to deliver regional character, varietal clarity, and excellent value. For this Shiraz, fruit is sourced from vineyards between 600 and 900 metres above sea level, where the cooler climate brings lifted aromatics and a more restrained structure compared to warmer regions.

In the winery, the focus is on preserving fruit purity and varietal integrity. Fermentation is done in stainless steel with gentle pump-overs to extract colour and flavour without harsh tannins. A portion of the wine is matured in older French oak to add subtle spice and roundness while keeping the wine fresh and fruit driven.

In the glass, expect vibrant aromas of blackberry, plum, pepper, violet, and hints of clove. The palate is medium to full bodied with juicy dark fruit, supple tannins, and a lively backbone of acidity. There’s a savoury edge and a clean, spicy finish that makes it incredibly versatile at the table.
