2022 Sinapius Clem Blanc, Northern Tasmania

I love the smell of this wine. It's like a runaway cart full of flowers has ploughed into a spice cellar in some exotic faraway souk. A deeply coloured, impossibly heady smelling blend of pinot gris/pinot blanc/gewürztraminer/grüner veltliner/chardonnay musqué/riesling. Phew! Skin contact, wild ferment, foudre-aged. You get the picture. It's all wild and musky with Turkish delight, rosewater, apricots and nectarine, dried honey, wild flowers and all manner of wild smelling things. It's a slinky, supple little ripper. Yeah!

A blend of Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay Musqué, Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. The extra time spent on skins transforms this traditionally barrel influenced expression into the orange category. Presenting hazy old gold in the glass with a subtle strawberry tint, fleshy orange fruit with pretty musky perfume on the nose. Delightfully layered on the palette, an impressively refined skin contact style.
