100% shiraz from Koonunga and Ebenezer, matured 24 months in French oak, 50% new. Classic Barossa here. Ironstone-flecked blackberry, satsuma plum and black cherry fruits, fruitcake spice, licorice, dark chocolate, turned earth, choc-mint and pan juices. Plush with melt-in-the-mouth tannins and a twang of citrus acidity on the back end. Drink to 2035.

95 points Dave Brookes for Halliday Wine Companion, August 2024

Deep, brooding colour with a light tinge of purple in the rim; the bouquet is earthy, woodsy and chocolaty. It's a rich, soft textured, dense and supple shiraz with lots of flesh and a touch of decadence; fruitcake and melted dark chocolate, traces of coconut from oak and tonnes of presence. It will age well, too.

94 points Huon Hooke for The Real Review, September 2024

A well-composed, driven and lively shiraz, offering aromas of dark plums, dried thyme and cured meat. Medium-bodied with velvety tannins. Fleshy purple fruit on the palate with a juicy, fruity and vivid development. Tactile, with a delicious finish. Drink or hold.

93 points Kevin Dacy for James Suckling, March 2025

Complex aromatic of dark fruits, hints of menthol spice and charcuterie, paired with a palate packed with boysenberry, black satsuma plum, black cherry and cassis with great intensity and length. Tannins are fine grained, supple, long and well balance with the acidity to see this wine cellar beautifully over the next decade or so.

Albert Shiraz is named after Kym Teusner’s Grandfather, Albert Alfred Teusner, a man admired for his commitment and his persistence. Like previous vintages, Albert Shiraz is made from parcels of fruit sourced from a couple of the favourite vineyards….an old block at Ebenezer in the Barossa’s North and another at the Barossa’s South Eastern most extremity at Williamstown.
