A restrained style, showing subtle red currants, slightly confected strawberries and sweet violets, quite contemporary and not too spicy. Medium-bodied with ripe, velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a crunchy palate. Elegant and easy to drink yet a bit lacking in depth. Drink now.

The Oberto family bottled one single Barolo in 2022. It largely features their vineyards in the cool, late-ripening Berri sub-district. Holdings in Rocche dell'Annunziata represent approximately 18% of the blend. A quiet charmer, this boasts precision and purity as its strengths. Scents of cranberry, redcurrant, pepper and brushwood take some coaxing. The palate is tightly knit and slender but well-endowed with flavours of juicy red berries and cardamom. Lively acidity meets al dente tannins. Do not take this for a pushover.

Trediberri has quickly become one of Barolo's most exciting modern success stories. Founded in 2007 by Nicola Oberto, his father Federico and friend Vladimiro Rambaldi, the estate takes its name from the local dialect for Tre Berri, the small hamlet where the winery is based. Despite its relative youth, Trediberri has earned a devoted following for wines that combine traditional Barolo character with an approachable, transparent style that highlights vineyard and vintage above winemaking intervention.

The Barolo Comune di La Morra is sourced from several carefully selected vineyards throughout the commune of La Morra, an area renowned for producing some of Barolo's most elegant and perfumed expressions. The 2022 vintage delivered fruit with excellent aromatic intensity and balance, allowing Nebbiolo's distinctive personality to shine. Gentle extraction and thoughtful maturation preserve freshness and site expression while building structure and complexity.

Bright garnet red in colour, the bouquet is wonderfully expressive, revealing aromas of rose petal, red cherry and wild strawberry layered with notes of blood orange, violet and sweet spice. As the wine opens, hints of anise, dried herbs and forest floor emerge, adding complexity and intrigue. The palate is beautifully poised, delivering vibrant red berry fruits, savoury earthiness and mineral detail supported by fine tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long, fragrant and classically Nebbiolo, lingering with floral notes, spice and subtle truffle nuances.

This is a magnificent match for mushroom risotto, braised beef cheeks, truffle pasta, duck ragù or aged Parmigiano Reggiano. While already approachable by Barolo standards, it possesses the balance and structure to evolve beautifully over the next fifteen years and beyond.
