The wide spectrum of citrus, crisp pear and stone fruit aromas announces a remarkable achievement for an entry-level wine. Excellent depth on the racy, medium-bodied palate where the chalky minerality beautifully counterpoints the cool fruit. Crisp, long finish with so much vitality. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The 2022 Riesling is from countless vineyards between Scherwiller in the north and the Vallé Noble in the south and mainly based on marl limestone soils. The nose is clear, fresh and intensely aromatic and even displays some Muscat and herbal/stony aromas, which makes it more than just Riesling. On the palate, this is a dry but round and textured, quite rich, intense and powerful yet certainly elegant, savory and stimulating Riesling with food-friendly grip, salts and tension on the crisp finish. 12.8% alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.

Trimbach Riesling from Alsace is one of the most iconic dry Rieslings in the world, embodying the purity, structure and age-worthiness that have made the Trimbach name synonymous with excellence since 1626. Based in Ribeauvillé in the heart of Alsace, the Trimbach family has remained fiercely committed to a dry style of Riesling that emphasises precision over opulence, mineral tension over sweetness.
This estate bottling, often referred to simply as Trimbach Riesling, is a blend of parcels from vineyards around Ribeauvillé and neighbouring villages. The soils here are rich in limestone and marl, and the cool continental climate, with long sunny autumns, allows grapes to ripen slowly while preserving exceptional acidity and aromatic clarity. Winemaking is deliberately restrained. Grapes are gently pressed, fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, and matured without oak to preserve freshness and structure. No residual sugar is left in the wine, resulting in a bone-dry expression that is all about elegance and purity.
In the glass, it’s pale straw with aromas of lime, green apple, white flowers, and crushed stone. The palate is sleek, focused and driven by citrus and saline minerality. There’s a steely backbone and a whisper of white pepper and flint that linger through the finish. It’s a wine that may seem quiet at first but reveals incredible complexity with air — and even more so with time in the cellar.
This is a classic match for shellfish, choucroute garnie, fresh goat cheese, or spicy Asian dishes like Thai green curry. Drink it young for clarity and cut, or cellar for up to 10 years as it evolves into something more layered and textural.
