From the historic vineyards of the Barossa Valley comes a Shiraz that reflects both heritage and modern precision. Yalumba is Australia’s oldest family owned winery, founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith and still operated by the Hill Smith family today. The Paradox Shiraz highlights fruit from mature Barossa vineyards where ancient soils, warm days and cool evenings allow Shiraz to develop richness while retaining balance. With more than 170 years of winemaking history behind it, Yalumba combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary vineyard management to produce wines of depth and regional character.

Deep crimson with inky purple hues, the aromatics are bold and expressive. Blackberry, dark plum and mulberry rise from the glass alongside notes of black pepper, clove and dark chocolate. Subtle hints of cedar and spice from oak maturation add further complexity.

On the palate it is full bodied and richly layered. Concentrated dark fruit forms the core, supported by firm, polished tannins and balanced natural acidity that give structure and length. Flavours of cocoa, liquorice and spice build through the mid palate, leading to a long, powerful finish marked by ripe blackberry and savoury depth. It captures the generous personality of Barossa Shiraz while maintaining poise and refinement.

Pair with grilled ribeye, slow braised beef cheeks, smoky barbecue dishes or aged cheddar. While impressive now with careful decanting, this Barossa Shiraz will cellar confidently for fifteen to twenty years, developing further notes of leather, spice and earthy complexity.
