Very bright ruby red in the glass. Fragrant and aromatic with notes of crushed raspberry, rose petals and dried thyme jumping from the glass. Light to medium weight with a delightfully supple and silken flow across the tongue. The aromatics are repeated on the palate along with a deeper anise spice lingering into the long finish. 15 AUG 2023 Drink 2023–2030

Vine Vale has a solid reputation for producing outstanding grenache. With sandy soils lying in the lee of the eastern range, the fruit produces wines of great perfume, which of course is what the variety is all about. Old vines here (1929 and 1949 plantings) and the glory of whole bunch fermentation on full display. Fragrant and great drinking with supple red cherry, dark plum and raspberry fruits cut with exotic spice, citrus blossom, Campari-esque tones, cola, gingerbread and earth. Savoury and composed with super-powdery tannins and a spicy, red-fruited exit with just a hint of roasting meats. Geez, grenache is great drinking.

Dark ruby in colour. Powerful cherry, pomegranate and boysenberry liqueur scents intriguingly combine with suggestions of incense, dark chocolate and herbs. The plush, velvety palate is juicy and delicious. Red and blue fruits are entwined in mocha flavours with a pinch of spicy white pepper and lingering dark berries on the long, refined, silky finish.
Handcrafted from our old vine Grenache block, Vine Vale Grenache is all about the subtlety of whole bunch fermentation. A wine with alluring fragrance, it is complex, savoury and fruit driven. Generous and bright through the palate with a crunch of acidity surrounding the juicy middle palate that Grenache aficionados will love.
